STATEMENT
In the "Water Environments" series of paintings "nature challenges me to continually invent a personal language using lyrical and spontaneous brush strokes to capture its rhythms and forms. I work directly on canvas imaginatively combining observation, sketches, and photographs, drawing brush lines choreographing and loosely plotting the composition's flow. Responding to subject matter becomes one with the developing multilayered dynamics of the composition, infusing my paintings with a sense of freedom and discovery."
