In the "Water Environments" series of paintings "nature challenges me to continually invent a personal language using lyrical and spontaneous brush strokes to capture its rhythms and forms. I work directly on canvas imaginatively combining observation, sketches, and photographs, drawing brush lines choreographing and loosely plotting the composition's flow. Responding to subject matter becomes one with the developing multilayered dynamics of the composition, infusing my paintings with a sense of freedom and discovery."

A lifelong resident in Queens NY, I attended Pratt Institute (BFA in Advertising Design) and Queens College (MS in Art Education). I further studied at the New School with Jacob Lawrence and with Jerome Witkin and Eric Fischl in master classes. I am a recipient of a 2008 Individual Artist Initiative from the Queens Council on the Arts funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and JP Morgan/Chase Foundation. My work, included in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress, and National Museum of Women in the Arts Archives, has been exhibited at the Queens Museum, the Bronx Museum, Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery, Museum of Anthropology of the People of New York, PS1, 14 solo exhibitions, and nationally in over 95 exhibitions. I am a member of the National Association of Women Artists and a Coordinating Board Member of Women in the Arts Foundation.
